Members of our Early Childhood Community of Practice and our Indigenous Relations Circle have come together to create a document called Autism Through Indigenous Lens. Written along side our Autism Services for Children Ages 0-6 Essential Components document, it outlines the unique worldview and needs of the Indigenous Autistic community.
Autism Through Indigenous Lens, discusses colonial influence on Indigenous communities, Indigenous ways of understanding autism, distinct best practices for Indigenous Autistic children, and available supports. This is an important read for practioners and services providers who work with Indigenous Autistic children.
