Now that you’ve been through all the steps, you may want to ask yourself:

What actions do I need to take to help me move?

As you approach the end of your housing timeline, it’s time to get ready to move.

Moving can be both exciting and scary at the same time, but planning can help ease your anxiety.

Here are some things that you will need to prepare for when moving out, including one-time added expenses:

  • UHaul or truck rental or hiring a moving company
  • Packing supplies (boxes, bubble wrap)
  • Furniture and delivery fee (or gas if you are moving things yourself)
  • Assembly fee for furniture (if you are not assembling it yourself)
  • Utensils and dishes for your home
  • Installation/connection fees (when you set up internet and other services, which may not be necessary depending on where you ended up finding housing)

  • Damage deposit (this is so that the people who rent to you have money to fix any damages you may cause while living there, but if you don’t make any damages, you will get this deposit back)

Congratulations! You are on your way to moving out and starting the process of living independently. Remember, this journey isn’t always linear, and it’s completely okay if you need to repeat any steps along the way, during your continued housing journey.
