Executive Functioning and Autism: Strategies for Everyday Life

Recorded March 19, 2024. The intent of this presentation is to increase understanding of what executive functioning and autism is, with a particular focus on how executive functions apply in daily life. We will review the most common challenges and strengths in executive functioning associated with autism across the lifespan as well as related strategies, supports, and accommodations that can be applied in daily life.

Dr. Petrina Pelletier is a Registered Psychologist with specialized training and experience in Clinical Neuropsychology. For over 20 years, Dr. Pelletier provided neuropsychological assessments and related services at the Glenrose Hospital for individuals across the lifespan with a variety of diagnoses, including autism diagnoses for children and youth. For the past few years, she has been in full time private practice where she continues to provide assessment and related services to children, adolescents, and adults, including assessment of autism in older adolescents and adults. Dr. Pelletier and her colleagues strive to provide a safe, supportive, and neurodiversity affirming setting for clients and their supporters at Continuum Psychology in St. Albert.
