Financial Planning Basics with Josh Stark

Recorded on September 13, 2022. This session provides a basic overview of the process, documents, information etc., you would need to get started. Many people choose to do nothing because finance is an overly complex topic and it’s easy to procrastinate and put off until tomorrow, or 10 years from now. Financial success for many often requires a strong relationship with a mentor or someone you trust, which is not an easy thing to do. In addition to this, people are on alert for any signs of scams, schemes, and salespeople, and rightfully so. The problem, however, is they also miss out on the significant benefits of working with a proficient advisor to help them understand their options and plan their futures, on their terms. Josh discusses financial planning basics and some of the pros and cons of DIY vs. working with an advisor.

About Josh Stark. Prior to founding Stark Private Wealth, Josh held several advisory positions over the last 13 years with two large Canadian wealth management firms. Much of Josh’s focus has been on business owners but a few years ago he expanded his practice to offer disability planning for families with a child or family member(s) with qualifying disabilities. In addition to his valuable industry experience, Josh has strong technical knowledge and an excellent reputation amongst industry peers. Since entering the financial services industry in the year 2007, Josh has obtained his QAFP, RRC, LLQP, CSC, and is working toward his CFP and TEP professional designations, and previously studied Business Management at MacEwan University. Josh lives in Edmonton and works with clients throughout Alberta and British Columbia. When not working, Josh enjoys snowmobiling, woodworking, working in the garage, and spending time with his wonderful wife and 3 amazing kids at the lake enjoying the outdoors, or watching a good movie, playing card games, and enjoying family time.
