Insights Community

Economic inclusion— financial security and sustainable housing—is vital for Autistic Albertans. To learn from a broad group of people, Autism Alberta’s Alliance and The Sinneave Family Foundation have partnered to create the Economic Inclusion Insights Community.

This initiative brings together Autistic individuals, family, and neurodivergent students to share real-life experiences. This collaborative network allows you to share your unique perspective on work, money, housing, and life after high school.

This will help us build practical recommendations for community partners across Alberta and Canada’s Autism Strategy.

To launch this new Insights Community, we will be using a new Rival platform – a mobile friendly tool so you can share your ideas easily.

If you have received an invitation to join this community, we hope you will participate and help us shape some real-world solutions. Check out the boxes below for more details:

Short, Twice Per Month Chats

About twice a month, we’ll text you a link to a brief online chat via Rival, a mobile-friendly conversational platform. No long, boring forms required.

Share Your Way

You can type your responses or record a quick video. Your privacy is fully respected—if you choose video, you never have to show your face. You are welcome to point the camera at a pet, a favorite photo, or the wall.

Grow Together

One of the most exciting parts of this community is learning with the exact same group of people over time. We will regularly share back what we learn so everyone benefits.

Earn Rewards

As a thank-you for your time and insights, community members can earn rewards and prize entries. The more you participate, the more you earn.

Frequently Asked Questions

Personal information is any information that can identify you. We may collect identifiable information such as your phone number or email address. If you choose to submit a video or photo that includes your face, that image would also be considered identifiable information.

We respect your privacy and take great care to protect your personal information. Your personal information will not be shared or used without your permission.

Rival uses your phone number for two factor authentification and to send you text messages about community activities. If you choose to participate in the points program, then your email address is also collected so we can send points notifications and e-gift cards.

Activity invitations are sent by text message. Rival is designed for mobile devices. If you prefer to complete activities on a desktop computer, you can copy the link from the text message and open it on your computer. For example, you can copy the link from the text message into an email and then open the same email on your computer.

Rival has a feature that uses AI probing capability that can generate follow-up questions. Sinneave can choose whether this feature is enabled for a particular activity. If it is on, the guidelines for probing capability must be programed into the system.

Rival also uses AI to process the information collected through a survey. It analyses and provides summaries. AI is also used to process the optional video responses.

During a pilot of Rival tools, Sinneave staff compared AI-generated summaries with summaries generated by our data team. While the AI summaries were useful, our team found that human-generated summaries provided a stronger understanding of regional context, government programs, and other local considerations.

For this reason, no AI-generated information will be shared without being reviewed by a human member of the project team to help ensure accuracy, context, and fairness.
